... the Offertory Procession was made in true Congolese style to the sound of drums and chanting which had everyone in the Church swaying from side to side. Other languages included French the mother tongue of the Congregation.

Assumptionists present included the Superior General, Richard Lamoureux, the Provincial Superior, Benoit Griere, and a number of other Assumptionists from France and from the Region, present to share in this joyful and moving celebration.

Peter was proud to have his father from Vietnam present (the first time his father had been outside Vietnam and not a word of English). His father was one of the first to receive Father Peter’s first blessing. Equally significant was that at the end of the Mass the Bishop removed his Mitre and knelt before the new Ordinand to receive his blessing... Peter will head a group of three Assumptionists to found a community in Ho Chi Minh City.

This will be the first Assumptionist community in this communist led country that still makes life difficult for Catholics.

There are over 25 Vietnamese Assumptionists training in France in preparation for their return to Vietnam. Their work will include helping in an orphanage, promoting vocations & education.
